My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cu (pronounced "coo") is 4.5 year old neutered male Blackmouth Cur. He is mostly an easygoing guy who wants to lay in the house with his owners. However, he does get bursts of energy when he wants to play and doesn't know his own size as a bigger dog (70lbs). Cu would do best with children (7+) big enough to handle him when he gets the zoomies.

Cu is an inside dog with doggy door access to a backyard. He is fully trained to poo/pee outside. He would do best in a home with a large backyard to get some of his playful energy out. Alternatively, he would also do great in a household who would take him on daily walks. He loves chasing balls and would do great with a little more room to play.

Cu could use a more experienced owner to help him meet new dog friends. He also currently gets a weekly bath to help keep him comfortable as he can sometimes get itchy.

More about this shelter

Kitsap Humane Society is a private, nonprofit animal shelter. We rescue and rehome over 6000 pets each year. Every dog or cat leaves our shelter spayed or neutered and with complete vaccines and a microchip. We have been caring for animals in need since 1908 and envision a time when all adoptable pets have loving homes.

We are extremely proud of our exceptionally high “lives saved” rate of over 96%. Through our active adoption, behavior, foster, transfer, and veterinary programs, we are able to rehome every adoptable animal that enters our facility. No animal is ever euthanized for lack of space.

In addition to caring for and adopting animals, we also provide spay/neuter services to low income residents of Kitsap County, and provide Animal Rescue and Enforcement services to our surrounding municipalities.
