My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Whoa Cowboy! This little guy is a hoot and if you are looking for a new friend you won't want to miss this fella! What breed is he? It's truly a mystery! His stocky legs and long body make everyone guess what he could be wherever he goes! But no matter what, everyone loves his golden eyes and his spotted ears... they ooo and aaah over this ADORABLE BOY. Cowboy ALWAYS looks happy and is darn near the PERFECT dog... what more could you want!

About this baby:
Extremely smart, this little boy continues to amaze us with what he can learn and do. He is athletic, affectionate, curious, energetic, happy, handsome, and loyal. But the best thing about this boy is that he LITERALLY has a glint in his eye... a glitter of white in his left eye truly is endearing to everyone he meets. He always looks like he's up to a bit of mischief, but if you tell him to "Speak" he tells you immediately everything he has been up to with loud barks on command! And, just FYI, there is NOTHING cuter than playing fetch with this happy boy, jumping and smiling with all his attention on you! Its so fun to watch him run on his little legs to catch his ball! Really this boy loves ALL kinds of play. He loves to snuggle and relax inside on the cool floor, but really his heart is wanting to be outside playing in the water hose or chasing something with you.

About this baby's ideal home:
This little fella is great with other dogs. He does well with both smaller and larger breeds. It is a possibility that he will jump on smaller children, so plan to put in some training if you have young ones. BUT I believe he will do very well with children invading his space (as they can often do) and pulling or tugging on him. Note, farm animals need to be kept locked up (this little "angel" has killed many an unsuspecting creature). He is untested with cats. As far as disposition, Cowboy can be a little restless. He would do great with an dog owner that could give him a lot of correction until he settles into what is expected of him--someone who can be consistent and more hands on until he can understand. And he would do great with someone who would prefer a dog that enjoys quality time and close interaction.

About this baby's talents and strengths:
No puppy chewing or training needed here! This boy has already learned: sit, speak, get in your bed, fetch, load up, and we are working on "high five" (he pretty much has it down). He is crate trained! And HOUSETRAINED! And he has NEVER chewed or destroyed ANYTHING!!! He has already been trained on a wireless fence (if you wish to carry that on). He does great in the car, great at the vet, and he did very well during bath time! This little guy also does a good job of sleeping by your bed, waiting patiently until morning. And he's a good watch dog, announcing any strangers approaching and running alongside the car until it arrives.

About this baby's health:
This little guy is heartworm positive, but this really does Not change his or his new family's life in any major way: you will need to plan to provide heart worm prevention consistently (whether monthly or through injections at the vet), and your vet may want to do a yearly round of antibiotics just to help give him a "leg up" in his healing. Cowboy is neutered, up to date on shots, free of all intestinal parasites, and currently taking preventive heartworm and flea and tick. He is ready to go!
