My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Chevy!

Super Sweet Attention Lover Chill Friendly

Personality: This well-behaved boy exudes charm and gentleness. He may be a bit unsure of new people and dogs initially, but with proper introductions, he warms up and showcases his affectionate nature.

Family Dynamics: Chevy does not currently live with children, but he has been observed interacting positively with children aged 9 and up. His initial shyness may require slow introductions to any pets in his forever home, particularly with cats. Chevy gets along best with laid-back dogs, preferring a calm and relaxed atmosphere.

Training: Chevy is a smart and responsive companion with a strong understanding of commands like sit, down, shake, off, and leave it. While occasionally testing your willingness to follow through on commands, his well-behaved nature shines through.

Home Preferences: Although Chevy is housebroken and has done well with unattended free roam, he would prefer a family that is home more often than not. While a physical fence is not a requirement, he should not be trusted off-leash, as he enjoys a game of "catch me if you can."

Medical/Health: Chevy's foster family noted that he is in great health and handles vet appointments, baths, nail trimming, and ear cleaning very well.

Likes & Dislikes: Chevy delights in going on walks and car rides, savoring yummy treats, and having comfy places to rest. These simple pleasures make him a happy and content companion. Chevy does not care for busy environments which can be a source of discomfort for him. He prefers a quieter setting to truly thrive.

This charming and well-mannered dog is ready to bring joy and love to his forever family. If you're ready to welcome this handsome boy into your home, please reach out to us by following one of the two steps below.

More about this rescue

Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue was started in 2008 by a group of Dane lovers who desire to help Danes in need. The rescue is made up of all volunteers who lovingly give of their time and money to help these wonderful dogs. Volunteers include people from every walk of life, all with one thing in common, love of Great Danes.

Each animal coming to the rescue is temperament tested, given a physical, vaccinated, wormed, checked for heartworm and tick borne illnesses and treated as needed. All dogs are sterilized before being re homed. The dog is then placed in a foster home to wait for someone to love it forever.
