My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you have any questions about these girls, please call Michelle (256-520-2517) or Brittany (256-975-0768).

Katia’s estimated date of birth: 2/19/2016

Mother Kristi and her daughter Katia (black) came to us on February 19th (Katia) and 20th (Kristi), 2018. They were part of a large colony of outside cats who were being fed by a family. The number of cats kept growing, and the people who were feeding them asked for help. Forgotten Felines trapped all the cats in the colony, and since Katia and Kristi were both clearly pregnant, they both moved into a foster home.  Since the Winter Olympics were taking place, I named Kristi after figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi and Katia after figure skater Ekaterina Gordeeva.   Katia soon gave birth to 4 kittens, a couple weeks later, Kristi gave birth to 6 kittens!   They have been co-mothering both litters and are wonderful in caring for the kittens and for each other.  This mother-daughter pair clearly adored each other and lean on each other.  We originally had wanted this pair to be Adopted Together - they seemed to need each other.  However, with time it's clear they'll be fine adopted separately - they get along GREAT with all other cats in their foster home.  KATIA has blossomed with one-on-one time with a human - and now enjoys laps & nonstop pets.  She'll be fine in a home where the humans don't expect too much too soon, and are willing to be patient.   Please email info@ffhsv.org to arrange to meet her, or CALL a number above.

More about this rescue

Forgotten Felines, Inc. is a 501-(3)(c) non-profit charitable organization. Our primary purpose is to manage the feral cat population in our area by trapping, neutering/spaying and re-releasing (TNR) cats back into their original territories. We also work to provide safe temporary homes for cats that are homeless, unwanted, abandoned or lost. Some of our animals have been rescued from dangerous conditions and cannot be released back to their original territory...these animals are housed in foster homes until permanent loving homes can be found. The majority of these animals are friendly abandoned pets, that are not feral, and we offer these loving and grateful animals for adoption here on Petfinder and also at Petsmart in Jones Valley, Huntsville, AL. We also provide help to people who are elderly, disable, financially challenged and those who love their animals but cannot provide them with the necessary care.

Our Mission...

(1) Control feral cat populations through neutering/spaying
(2) Educate the public about about proper pet care and responsibility, especially neutering/spaying and advising about pet behavior and medical issues that often result in families giving up their pets
(3) Humanely remove and relocate ferals when possible
(4) Adopt out loving, grateful animals into permanent forever homes
(5) Raise necessary funds to build a shelter for rescued cats
