Wolfgang von Wolken is a gorgeous 3-4-year-old long-haired German Shepherd (mix?) He’s a sweet, happy, goofy boy who has adapted well to life at the rescue and enjoys meeting new people. Wolfgang starts off with a friendly demeanor and wagging tail; he likes to be active and is ready for anything fun that you mind have in mind! Already showing his smarts on a list of commands, he’s looking for an experienced owner who will continue his training. He enjoys his playgroups and loves to interact with other dogs, he'll give a play bow to get things going. In fact, he may even vocalize his very apparent joy! Another plus on his resume, he has tested well with small dogs. However, Wolfgang is not looking for any kitty-cat friends.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
