Skye I was a 3-month-old orphan when I first set paw at the HSHC. Don`t you think I was a cutie-patootie? I was quickly adopted and lived with my owner for a year and a half, until he surrendered me back to the HSHC in August 2025. As an orphaned kitten, I missed out on the education and discipline a mother cat provides, so I never learned how to control my urges to stalk and chase. Like all kitties, I have a strong prey drive and plenty of energy! To help me shine, I need lots of interactive play with my humans—puzzle toys with treats, laser pointers, and feather wands are all my favorites for burning energy. In early October, I moved to a foster home, where I worked hard on my social skills. Now 2.5 years old, I`m spayed, use my litter box flawlessly, and am BFFs with my human foster sister—her lap is the best spot! Because my paws were declawed by a previous owner, my swats and slaps are pretty harmless, even when I`m frustrated. I`m fascinated by the resident cat, and I do my best to get him to play; when we both play with a wand toy, we get along great. At first, I would nip if I was scared or overwhelmed, but that`s behind me now—I speak up vocally instead. My foster family says I`m a sweetheart who deserves a loving, patient forever home. As far as I`m concerned, the Skye’s the limit for lovable kitty cats! 1-12-26

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
