Thumper has been with us for 831 days. That’s over two years of watching other dogs come and go while he waits—patiently, hopefully—for someone to see just how special he really is. At 73 pounds, he’s a big, strong, goofy dog with a whole lot of personality. He’s energetic, toy-obsessed, and lives for drive-thru cheeseburgers and quality time with his favorite people. He’s got a big zest for life and will keep you laughing with his expressive, over-the-top charm. Thumper thrives in a home that keeps him busy. He’s a regular on our enrichment and agility course and loves engaging activities that let him burn off energy and focus his drive. He’s built strong bonds with his volunteer besties, who have sponsored his kennel and continue to be his biggest cheerleaders. He’s been introduced to other dogs and may be able to live with a calm, respectful companion after a proper introduction. He tends to want to slow high-energy dogs down, so a more laid-back match would be the best fit. When it comes to kids, Thumper’s strength and enthusiasm mean we’re being thoughtful. We’re open to meet-and-greets with families, but young children may not be the best match. Thumper is a lot of dog, and he needs a home that’s ready to give him the structure and outlets he needs to succeed. No cats for Thumper. After 831 days, Thumper is still waiting. Not for just any home, but the right one—the person who sees more than a big, black dog with energy. Someone who sees potential, personality, and everything he’s ready to give when he finally gets his chance.
