Marley is a 2-3 yr old, 60ishlb Lab mix looking for his forever home!
Marley has been in a foster home for a bit now, and a few priority things: "Over the past months we have watched Marley slowly come out of his shell and watched him learn how to acclimate in a home. He is still overcoming some his fears/survival instincts developed from being a stray but he has grown into a very good goofy boy and is a real gem to have in your home. He must go to a home with another stable and confident dog, so they can help to show Marley the ropes, and help build his own confidence. He doesn't like to be alone in new places and definitely models his behavior/habits from the other dogs. Marley is a true pacifist and would not do well with any animal/kiddo who has a tendency to bully or be overly aggressive, he struggles to stand up for himself. He has never tired to assert his dominance and is perfectly fine being the "side kick" to the other dogs he is with.
He is also best suited for a home with older children and a more calm atmosphere, vs a home with small kids and lots of chaos around him.
He loves other dogs and is playful around them, but we are still working on building trust in humans. He must go to a house with another confident/stable dog to help him learn the ways of the world since he loves to follow what his foster brother/dog is doing. He is a very submissive boy and has shown zero aggression, but lacks socialization and and stability and will learn that from a social and stable doggie sibling. As he is very unsure of all things around him, he is considered a flight risk and must go to a home with an above ground secure fenced yard.
He is potty trained and crate trained. He does fantastic on leash and does not pull. His favorite play is fetch as he LOVES tennis balls! He is very food motivated, so it will be easy to train him once he opens up to you and gains your trust.
Marley's new family will need to have the time and patience to work with him, give him lots of reassurance and help build confidence in himself, and trust in humans. Other than that, he is the definition of a couch potato with a low to moderate energy level. Marley is a gentle old soul, he loves a good afternoon nap and couch surfing on a fuzzy blanket. He is a very low maintenance doggo. I don't think I have ever seen Marley act out/ misbehave / chew on anything other than his toys/bones. You can tell he just wants to fit in be unnoticed and be a good well behaved boy. He prefers to stay out of the spotlight and doesn't need constant attention preferring to sit close to you rather than next/ on you".
We have no information at this time about kids or cats.
Winning over the trust of a dog is one of the best feelings in the world. If you want to meet Marley and start building your bond, please fill out an adoption application:
