My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Woody is a chill, loving, super playful boy!  Woody is a world-class cat high-jump athlete, and his favorite play session is to make super-high leaps after his favorite mouse-on-a-string toy, with you as his coach.  If you don't take the hint to start a his training session, he has a special "I want to play" stare that telepathically communicates his desire to you.  No irritating meowing from this boy! But if you need some quiet time to read, watch videos, work on your laptop or nap, Woody is very happy to curl up next to you or on your lap and purr you to total relaxation.

Woody's best friend is Pixi; they were rescued from the same homeless encampment and became best buddies and playmates.  While they sometimes chase and wrestle, they also curl up together and Pixi grooms Woody...so sweet! Since playful, high-energy young cats  can get into trouble if they are left alone it is best for them--and for you-- to adopt them as a bonded pair.

Woody was born with 2 eye abnormalities of his right eye and he required surgery to correct this condition, which was causing painful irritation, ulceration and possible infections.  He recovered well from the surgery and requires no further care. His right eye still looks a bit wonky, but it doesn't bother Woody and doesn't seem to interfere with those games of chase-the-toy.

Please note:

  • Woody should be adopted with his best friend

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Potential Adopters fill out an adoption profile and application to help ensure that the cat or kittens they are applying for is/are a good match for their household. This is followed by an interview (phone or in person). All of our cats are in foster homes, so we know their personalities very well and can help you make a great match for everyone in your home.

If there are other pets in the household we provide assistance in introducing the new cat(s). We have lots of experience with multiple cat households, and we will work with you to make sure that everyone gets along and is happy. Cats or kittens can be returned to us within two weeks if they do not fit into your family or household.

Our contract specifically prohibits declawing and requires that if the new owner find that scratching is a problem, they return the cat to us rather than declaw.

Our adoption fees are $100 for a kitten (or $175 for two kittens)and $50 for adult cats (over 12 months old), all of whom are spay/neutered, micro-chipped, immunized, treated for fleas and worms and given any required veterinary treatment before adoption. The value of these treatments is several times the adoption fee!

More about this rescue

Community Cat Rescue was formed to improve the lives of homeless cats through adoption, promotion of spaying/neutering, TNR and colony management and educational outreach to the public. We are a group of experienced rescue and TNR volunteers who have developed a network of foster homes for rescued street cats, and a regular program of outreach for adoption and education at local farmers markets, public events and at pet stores and shopping areas. We host a minimum of 3 outreach events per month, and often as many as 6 events. In addition to adopting out cats as family pets, we also have an active TNR program, including relocation of feral cats as "working cats" to appropriate homes if they are not safe in their original territory.
