My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hit the spot with this friendly girl!

Hi, friends! My name is Spot, and I’m a 3-year-old, 33-pound, spayed Terrier mix female.  I’ve come all the way from Ellos Son La Razon (along with my litter of puppies), and I can’t wait to meet my furever family.

My foster mama says I’m an easy-going and loving girl! I get along with every person I come across, and I get really excited when I meet new humans.  My favorite activities include getting pets, eating chicken, being around my people, and lounging in the sun and in my crate.

Since being rescued by TAP, I’m doing great with my training, too.  I have already mastered potty- and crate-training, and my leash training is a work in progress. While I’ve been making significant strides there, I have the tendency to occasionally pull the leash in different directions. But BAT training is helping me get better on the leash.  One other skill that I’ve been working on is to not be naughty around the house.  I am guilty of doing certain doggie-like behaviors, such as scratch the couch, from time to time, but I’m a receptive girl who can quickly correct my behaviors.  Finally, I’m doing great health-wise, and I don’t have any special needs to speak of.

As far as my ideal home goes, I think I’d thrive in a mellow household – though, I would honestly do well anywhere!  I’d love to have regular walks and opportunities to be out and about where I could meet new friends.  Kiddos and doggie siblings are A-OK with me but I do prefer smaller dogs after slow introductions as I can be selective, and I can be left alone in my crate for a period of time without any issues.  Other than that, give me all the love and pets that I deserve, and I promise that I’ll be yours forever!

My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
