My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Oni!

Hey, y'all, my name is Oni! I'm a senior gal who has a little extra to love. You may think that I'm a chunk, but I assure you, I have been working very hard at getting my girlish figure back in check. I was found as a stray, overweight, and pretty unhealthy. I've lost about 6 pounds so far and am down to a svelt 18 pounds! My foster parents have really put in the work to get me healthy again. Measured meals, limited treats, and lots of walks have been had the last couple of months! Hard work really does pay off! I live with other dogs here, and I do well with all of them, though I'm not really interested in playing with any of them. There are also a couple of small humans who live here, and I like them well enough. The one cried a lot, and she's pretty new, and the other likes to run and play, but she's still respectful to me. I always try to get my pottying done while I'm outside so that my humans don't have to clean up any messes.

I really enjoy going for walks, so now that I'm at a healthier weight, I'll need my new humans to keep me there and keep working with me on it because I still have a couple pounds to lose. Since I also really like dinner time and will even do a little "Oni run" to my food bowl, we have to be mindful. I never want to be unhealthy again! I recently had some mammary tumors removed and the rest of my teeth, and I'm feeling like a million bucks! My favorite pastime just happens to be napping in the soft dog beds that my foster home has and barking at those pesky, rude squirrels from the back porch! But that's about the only time you'll hear a peep out of me. My foster parents believe I'm mostly deaf. Whenever they tell me something, I don't even lift an ear. Say what, now? That's me, in a nutshell! Now I need to find my humans who will be dedicated to me and my health, who will also make sure I always have the best dog beds! Maybe that's you!
