My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Turtle Dove. I'm a transfer from a local MN shelter.

From the foster:
Turtle Dove is one independent lady. Her personality starts to shine bright once she gets to know you. She loves her chin scracthes and her cuddles. She has her zoomies and likes to solo play. She can be picky about her food and generally likes things her way and she isn't afraid to let you know. She's definitely a cat who takes a while to warm up, but once she does you'll find a loyal friend. She sleeps a lot and loves anything warm (heat pad, vents, blankets) so you can usually find her snoozing.

She does ok with other cats, it just takes slow intros. She doesn't love kittens because she doesn't like to be pounced on or swatted at.

Medical Bio: "Hi! My name is Turtle Dove and I cannot wait to meet you and settle into my forever home. I will need a home that is special and can provide some extra TLC. I have had a few issues that have been ongoing since I arrived in rescue. My main medical struggles have been with my arthritis/degenerative bone disease, currently being treated with a monthly injection, issues related to my Stage 2 chronic kidney disease, asthma and a few teeth that got extracted a few months ago. Kidney disease is fairly common in older kitties and cats that have a good plan for medical management can still live very full lives! My struggles have manifested in some loss of appetite or struggles with eating and occasionally blood in my urine. I will likely be on a prescription kidney diet for my remaining years. My foster mom says I have been dealing with my inhaler well and my asthma is well managed at this stage. I know it seems like I have a lot going on, however my vet team is very hopeful that I will continue to improve as long as my future family is able to keep up with this management plan! Hope to meet you soon, I know you'll fall in love with me in my golden years of being the perfect lap cat!"

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
