My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Loves to cuddle up and snuggle with you but also enjoys her personal space where she will just relax on her own.
She is always ready to play and can get a little bitty but will never actually injure you, Her favorite toy atm is her stuffed sheep animal that she will toss around or sleep with.
Lots of energy and always ready to go for walks and will instantly break out into a run if you are wanting to run too.
Hildie is very protective of her person, which is a positive and a negative. Sometimes she cant tell friend from foe.
The ideal home for Hildegard would be someone open where she can run around and possibly have other dogs to play with. I havent been able to see her interact up close with other dogs but she never really has an issue when they walk by.

Submit Application

If you see an animal you would like to meet, complete our online application. You will receive an email with the next steps.

2.
Meet the Pet

Visit the facility where the animal is located. If in foster care, the foster will set up a time to meet with you.

3.
Sign Adoption Contract

One of our adoption counselors will review the animal's medical history and walk you through the paperwork.

4.
Pay Fee

Our adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Once the adoption process is complete, you can bring your furry friend home!

Our mission is to provide the programs and services needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster.

San Antonio Pets Alive! is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Due to alarming euthanasia rates, San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) was founded in 2012. SAPA! is unique—it is the only high paced, high-volume rescue in San Antonio, saving 6,000 at-risk cats and dogs annually.

Since its inception, SAPA! has saved more than 47,000 dogs and cats. SAPA! provides safety nets for the dogs and cats that fall through the cracks of all other lifesaving options and end up on the euthanasia lists, often with just hours to be saved. SAPA! promotes the availability of these dogs and cats to other rescues, adopters and fosters.
