Bella is a special girl looking for a special forever home. We recently discovered that Bella is visually impaired and this has a significant impact on her behavior. She is currently in foster care with her new diagnosis where she is learning how to be a dog with a human that now understand why she can be unfriendly at times. She is learning to get along with the other dogs in the house. Bella will need lots of time to learn to trust her new home and will need plenty of patience and an expereinced adopter that understands the limitations and beahvioral issues that can surface with not only a visually impared dog but a small defenseless dog as well. When shes comfortable she is very sweet. She loves back scratches, cheese, and long adventure walks. Shes a beautiful dog with very unique features and will make a great companion with the person that will give her the space and patience to see her blossom.
Bella will do well in a home with confident and tolerant dogs. She has met a cat through a gate and was very defensive, she may get along fine with a confident/docile cat but either will need structured and slow introductions. Small children might not understand her personality so the home she goes to should be all adult and experienced in Chihuahua care who are committed to multiple daily walks. Bella is about 7lbs and 3 years old. She is spayed and current on vaccinations. She is currently in a foster home in downtown Indianapolis. Her adoption fee is $325.

Additional adoption info
**If you are unable to pay the adoption fee ($250 and up), we are unable to place a dog in your care. Being unable to meet the financial obligations of pet care (recurrent or emergent) is one of many reasons why so many of these pets end up in rescue. It's not lack of love.**
We require an adoption application, and then we will check references. We also check with vets. If the person is not LOCAL then we will partner with a local animal control to complete a home visit.
There are adoption fees associated with the costs of veterinary care of the pet. We require an adoption contract to be signed to finalize the adoption process and we have an agreement that all our pets are to be Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. pets for LIFE. In other words, in the event that they can not stay in their adoptive home, they are not to be surrendered to another individual or rescue.

More about this rescue
Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. is a non profit, all volunteer rescue working with Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. The pets are housed in individual volunteer foster homes, not kennels or shelters until they are adopted permanently. We get to know our animals and therefore can tell the potential adopter what the traits of the animal are and what home would be the best for the pet. We are dedicated to the adoption, education, rescue and transportation of the Chihuahua breed. We believe that every Chihuahua deserves a loving home.
