My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bear spent his entire life with his mom in California. Then she had to go into assisted living, and Bear went to stay with family. Bear is blind, and the dogs where Bear went were not fond of him, so he spent much of his time hiding under furniture. When the family moved to Texas, the family also acquired a pool Bear found twice by accident by falling in. Luckily for Bear, someone was supervising him both times. They contacted me to see if he might come here. I know how well blind dogs adapt, so I had no issues with his coming to our sanctuary. Bear is a character! He is feisty and sassy. He is demanding and playful. He gets along with my ducks but if the ducks pick on him, he will tell them off quite loudly!! He learned how to go up and down the ramp to my bed with ease. When I switched the ramp to the other side of the bed, he adapted faster than my other blind dog. no issues at all. Bear is beautiful, lively, healthy, intelligent, house and crate trained. the complete package. he loves kids. He LOVES kids. have him over for a week home trial and see for yourself!

I am located east of Dallas, and I have adopted furkids out to places as far away as Connecticut. I make every effort to provide video of the furkid you are interested in, and I provide all pertinent information about personality and hometraining as well. Our kiddos are all fixed, vaccinated and microchipped.

More about this rescue

ARRS has been my dream. We purchased our home and land with rescue and senior sanctuary in mind. We provide senior sanctuary to all breeds and primarily rescue dachshunds and dachshund mixes to place for adoption. It amazing to see the life return to a previously neglected dog's eyes or see her tail wag for the first time. We often have a dog for months before the dog comes out of survival mode and begins to play and actively seek affection. It's quite simply amazing and heartwarming. Be a part of that miracle. Adopt!!!
