Here's what the humans have to say about me:
For six years, Kona has waited. Five of those in shelters, watching as others found their forever homes while she stayed behind. Fourteen months in a foster home, loved but still waiting. Waiting for someone to finally say, She’s the one. She belongs with me.
Most don’t know the pain she’s endured. She was saved from a kill shelter by a small rescue, but instead of safety, she found suffering. She didn’t get along with the other dogs there, and instead of kindness, she was met with cruelty. The woman in charge would take a cigarette lighter to her skin whenever she acted out. Imagine the fear, the confusion, the loneliness she must have felt.
When we found out what was happening, we were given an ultimatum: take her, or she would be put to sleep. We didn’t hesitate. We brought her into our care, promised her she would never know pain again, and have loved her ever since.
But love isn’t the same as home.
Kona is sweet, snuggly, and silly. She loves stuffies, squeaky toys, and the simple joy of curling up next to you on the couch. She doesn’t beg at the table, doesn’t bark for no reason, and is completely housebroken. She loves all people—kids, too—and has the best little zoomies that will make you smile even on the hardest days.
She takes daily medication for a history of seizures, but she’s been seizure-free for seven months now. What she needs is a home where she is the only pet—a place where she can finally feel safe, secure, and loved beyond measure.
Right now, Kona spends most of her days alone. Her foster family adores her, but with their changing schedules, she’s left waiting yet again. And hasn’t she waited long enough?
Six years. That’s how long she’s been overlooked.
She doesn’t have endless years ahead of her. But she does have today, and tomorrow, and however many days she’s blessed with left to give someone her whole heart. And isn’t that worth something?
Kona needs a hero. She needs you.
Please, don’t let her spend another day waiting. If you can foster or adopt this beautiful soul, apply at www.alwaysandfurever.org/forms.
