My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If Mouse were at a feline fashion show, you’d see this sweet boy strutting his best kitty tuxedo down the catwalk—with the hope that you’ll bring him home with you!

Mouse is currently in foster care, enjoying quality time with his foster parent. He was initially a pretty nervous guy, and it took him some time to build his confidence. Now that he’s learned the magic behind a warm touch and tasty treats, he hasn’t looked back! He has gotten chattier by the day and now looks to cheerfully greet his person when they return home.

Mouse is happy camper when he has catnip toys and a window perch to hang out in. His adopter can help him blossom in their home by only giving him attention (maybe some face/chin scratches) on his terms. Follow this recipe, and you’ll have a new kitty BFF!

  • Mouse would probably do best in a home with teens and up.
  • Mouse would do best in a quiet home with a patient adopter who can help them come out of their shell.
  • An Admissions and Placement Specialist can talk to you about Mouse’s medical needs.
  • An Admissions and Placement Specialist can give you tips to help set Mouse up for success.

**The ASPCA is committed to prioritizing the health and safety of the community, the animals in our care and our staff, and we are keeping a close eye on developments related to the COVID-19 crisis as they evolve. As such, the ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City is currently closed for in-person visitors. However, we are excited to offer remote adoptions using video conferencing! In-person meet-and-greets are also sometimes available or required for specific animals. Please check out our available cats and dogs above, and if one catches your eye, apply directly for him or her. An ASPCA Matchmaker will let you know if the animal you are interested in adopting is eligible for or requires an in-person meet-and-greet.

Please note: Adoption applications are handled in the order they are received and submitting an adoption survey does not constitute a hold or guaranteed adoption. You can expect to receive automated emails updating you on your adoption status as our Matchmakers go through applications. Thank you for your patience, and we hope you find your match!**

More about this shelter

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world. Our organization was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866 on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence, and with programs that extend our anti-cruelty mission across the country, we are recognized as a national animal welfare organization. We are a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and proud to boast more than 1 million supporters across the country.
