Gets Along With  Other dogs! He has lived with cats and has done well but we always recommend slow introductions. If you have cats in your home, we are happy to discuss with you how to best introduce a new pup to your pack! He hasn't been seen with kids but can be tested.

Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.

About Poptart:   Meet Poptart, a energetic bundle of joy with a personality as unique as they come! Despite his impressive size, Poptart is convinced he’s a lap dog at heart.

Poptart is a connoisseur of plushy and cotton toys, although that passion can transform a squeaky wonderland into fluffy confetti in no time at all! However, his absolute favorite toy is a buffalo hoof - You'll never find him without it; it's their sidekick for car rides, potty breaks, and leisurely strolls. His adorable antics and attachment to the buffalo hoof are reminiscent of a little boy with his cherished teddy bear.

If you're searching for a buddy to share your cozy evenings with, Poptart is your perfect match. He’ll snuggle up beside you, tail wagging in anticipation of the next National Geographic adventure or the magical journey through the wizarding world of Harry Potter. Those are his favorites and he truly will watch TV right along with you!

But Poptart is not just a spectator, he’s a clever communicator. He has a subtle yet effective way of letting you know his desires. Whether it's sitting beside an item he fancies or planting themselves right in your face, this clever pup has communication down to an art.

Poptart is seeking a family that appreciates the quirkiness of life and can match his enthusiasm for playtime. If you're ready to share your heart and home with a lovable, slightly mischievous giant, Poptart might just be the perfect fit!

What My Foster Says About Me:  Poptart is the biggest snuggle bug and the sweetest companion. Playtime is his favorite time! He loves toys and he has been great with my 3 resident dogs, though he tends to play rough, he knows when to back off. He has a puppy's curiosity and was interested in my cats at first but now he barely notices them.

Everything he does I find amusing because he is discovering new things everyday. When he got his first bath, he was so confused by the shower curtain and you could see the gears turning in his head.

When he accidentally hurts me or the other dogs I will scream “OW!” and will say “Kissies” right after so he knows what he did and he will come over to me and give me a kiss or will give my other dogs a kiss.

Poptart hasn't had any potty accidents in the house and will pace to let you know he has to go outside. He is perfect in his crate and in a car. He's enthusiastic about mealtime and currently needs to eat with a slow feeder.

He is so so smart, he has learned our routine when I go to work and does not give me any trouble with it. He will walk straight into his kennel and take a nap until we are ready to go.

He is an energetic young pup and would do best with an active family or in doggy daycare. Poptart is a loving, playful pup that deserves the world after what he has been through!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
