My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sarah: Sarah is a German Shepherd mix who came to us from Ukraine in 2022. She has experienced a lot of change in her life, and she recently returned to our care because she was struggling with anxiety and strong attachment behaviors in a home setting. Sarah forms very close bonds with her people, and new or unfamiliar visitors can be overwhelming for her at first. She may need time, patience, and guidance to feel comfortable when someone new enters the home or when she hasn’t seen a person in a while. When left alone, Sarah can become stressed, which has sometimes shown through chewing on household items. These behaviors are rooted in anxiety and can be managed with structure, consistency, and support. While Sarah is still learning how to fully relax and enjoy playtime, she does enjoy the company of other dogs and tends to do best with calm, confident male dogs, which can help her feel more secure. Because of her needs, Sarah would thrive with an adopter who has moderate to high experience and understands anxious or sensitive dogs. A calm, predictable home with clear routines will be very important for her success. Sarah is a loyal, sensitive dog who is looking for a patient and understanding home where she can finally feel safe and supported. With the right person by her side, she has the potential to continue building confidence and finding comfort in a place she can call home.
