My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kelly – Your Future Best Friend

Are you looking for a loyal, low-key companion to share your life with? Look no further — Kelly is your girl! This sweet senior pup is ready to fill your home (and your heart) with love, laughter, and lots of cuddles.

After spending several years at Satchel’s Last Resort, Kelly recently transitioned to a foster home — and she’s been thriving! She settled in like she’d lived there forever and has proven to be the perfect house guest. Kelly is calm, well-mannered, and deeply devoted to her people. While she can be protective of her family at home, she absolutely loves meeting new people on her walks and happily soaks up belly rubs and kisses from everyone she meets.

Kelly is a dream on the leash, knows all her basic commands, and listens like a pro. She’s a big fan of car rides — whether she’s riding shotgun or stretched out in the backseat, she’s just happy to be along for the journey.

Kelly prefers a quiet life and would be happiest as your one-and-only furry friend — she’s not much for sharing attention with other pets. But with her in your life, you won’t feel the need for anyone else!

If you think Kelly sounds like your perfect match, we’d love to introduce you! Please submit an adoption application at satchelslastresort.org, and one of our adoption counselors will reach out to schedule a meet-and-greet.

Kelly is ready to be your number one — are you ready to be hers? 🐾

More about this rescue

Satchel's Last Resort is a no-kill animal shelter/sanctuary whose mission is to Rescue, Rehab and Rehome dogs and cats with nowhere else to go because of breed, behavior or medical issues.

Each resident that comes to Satchel’s has its own unique and personal history. We get to know each one individually – favorite toy, favorite game, favorite foods. The dogs are housed in an airy shelter with spacious kennels, take three or four romps in the playard or walks per day, and even take car rides to let their fur flap in the wind. Cats are housed in two open cat room settings and receive social interaction with staff and volunteers every day. Most important to us -- we keep our dogs and cats safe from other residents and from humans who may want to harm them.

Trainers work with the dogs a few times a week to teach them that they can trust humans and other animals. Staff and volunteers work with our cats to keep them socialized or help them learn to trust again. We actively seek forever homes tailored to the needs of every individual pet so that they can live the rest of their lives among a family of their own.

At Satchel’s Last Resort, we believe that by harnessing the unconditional love that the dogs and cats in our sanctuary put forth everyday, the world becomes a brighter place for animals and people. Each and everyday we try to give a little of their love back – back to the pets and back to our community.
