Here's what the humans have to say about me:
HAZEL / 2 years / Female / Mixed Breed / 16 kgs / Local Surrender / Fostered in North York
Good with balanced dogs and dog-savvy older children / No cats please / House and crate trained
Meet Hazel, your new motivational guru, personal trainer and life coach. Think you need five coffees and constant motivation to get your day going? Try Hazel instead.
She’ll lift your spirits and get you going with her joyfulness and relentless excitement. Always the life of the party, she isn’t shy to say hello to new people and ask for a belly rub. She also loves every toy she she can chew, lick, play, tug, or chase (sometimes she’ll even proudly parade around with a shoe if she’s extra happy!).
Skip the weights and just play a couple rounds of tug o’ war with Hazel - she’s sure to guarantee a great work out! After all that playing she loves to lay at your feet or rest in her crate - it’s her safe space. She loves to have special chew sticks and nap for hours at a time in her crate. In fact, if you’re someone who works outside your home, Hazel is happy to snooze the day away, patiently awaiting your return.
Hazel is a total foodie, which makes her a quick learner. She’s learned to come when called, sit and paw, and would do really well with someone who's willing to help her channel her energy into more training. Hazel thrives on structure and a consistent schedule, so once she catches on to a routine she’s a happy, well-adjusted gal!
Disclaimer: Hazel’s high energy is not suitable for everyone, particularly smaller kids. She sometimes gets a little too excited when her humans come home, but comes off way too strong (she’s been known to hump a leg a or two), so she needs a family who can help her learn how to calmly say hello and help redirect her focus to her favourite toys instead. She would benefit from more leash training and doggie etiquette, but could do fine with another balanced and confident dog who can help model good behaviour. Hazel would likely do best in a quieter environment (house or apartment) with green space nearby for her to explore. She has so much potential and even more love to give!
Hazel’s contagious energy is bound to make you happier, healthier and most importantly, fill your home with unconditional love. If you’re ready to change your life for the better apply to adopt Hazel at https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/
