Ola! I’m Vivant. I recently arrived in Canada from Mexico, and I’m starting the search for my new family! I’m a super friendly and easygoing gal, and I love curling up for a good nap in my cozy new bed.

Aside from naps, food is my next favourite thing! I have already learned to sit, shake a paw, and even high-five. My foster mom is working on teaching me to come when my name is called. I’m always happy to oblige if yummy treats are involved. And it seems like there are always treats involved when I’m learning new tricks!

I love hanging out and playing with other dogs, but slow introductions are definitely best for me as I continue to adapt to my new life. I can also take a little longer to adjust when meeting men over women, but I do settle down and come around fairly quickly. Sometimes I just need a little time and patience. I also get a little anxious when I am left alone, but I quiet down as soon as I remember that these nice people will always keep coming back home to cuddle with me.

Apartment living is pretty cool - I get to meet people of all sorts on our trips out to the elevator, including lots of kids (I always get lots of pets and praise for staying calm around them). I love walks and could absolutely live with a family in an apartment- as long as I keep getting my walkies. I’m trying to learn not to chase birds and squirrels when on leash - they’re just so fascinating and I get really excited when I see them.

I could totally spend my life with another doggo sibling, as long as they’re kind and respect my space. I’m still learning what it’s like to have loving people in my life, and I’m working really hard to learn to share their time. It’s hard for me though because this is all so new to me, and I like to protect them so nothing bad ever happens.

I enjoy settling down for a nap in my crate when I’m left alone. My foster mom says it’s the safest place for me so I don’t try to eat anything I’m not supposed to. Don’t worry- I won’t chew your shoes or your furniture, but I do love to check out what’s left on the counter.

I’m eagerly awaiting the perfect person to curl up beside and nap with for the rest of my days. Are you looking for a new nap buddy? Apply today at http://caninehaven.org/dog-application

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

To adopt one of our dogs, please fill out an application here (https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/).

Although we do our best to reply to all inquiries within 48 hours, please remember we are a 100% volunteer based organization, and many of us have full time jobs outside of rescue. We appreciate your patience.

Our priority is to ensure the fit is right for both you and the dog, we will reach out to your personal and veterinarian references (if applicable), and your landlord (if applicable). A virtual video or pictures of your place are required at the time of application.

You will then be granted a private meet and greet with the dog. If after the meet and greet, you would like to proceed with adoption, we will review your application internally and with the foster and make a final decision.

More about this rescue

Formed in 2013, a small scale dog rescue located in Ontario. We are a non-profit, volunteer-run, foster home based.

None of our dogs are boarded in kennels upon arrival.

We are dedicated in rescuing dogs from the Caribbean, Mexico and North America as well as local surrenders.

We place dogs in loving, responsible and committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process.

Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes.

We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement
