My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Scooby Doo is an inquisitive, intelligent, affectionate, energetic 4-year-old looking for a gentle, consistent person who's as eager as he is to take on all life has to offer. This Doberman/Boxer mix-with a dash of Peruvian Inca Orchid-enjoys interacting with his people, while he is less interested in those he doesn't know well. He can spot his favorite people from a long distance and his nubby tail will start going so fast that his whole body wiggles with excitement! If you're lucky, his big ears might even jump for joy!
He appreciates a regular routine and, most days, he is attentive and enjoys learning new tricks and playing games. Once and awhile, he bounces to "Scooby-world", which is why "Listen was one of his first commands. He also knows "sit", "lie down", "this way", and "here".
He is a hard-core athlete- strong, agile, and very quick-expecting an active companion who enjoys his spunky and quirky personality. He loves to bounce and zoom around. He is an expert at catch, often jumping off the ground in his enthusiasm to snatch treats and toys out of the air. As the center of the household, he prefers no 4-legged roommates, wanting all of your attention for himself!
Scoobs, in a word, is passionate-about running, sniffing, playing games and tricks, cuddling, sleeping, belly rubs, food, treats, being pampered, and so much more!
Scooby has been waiting patiently for his forever family! If that might be you, fill out an application to to learn more about him today!

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Northeast Iowa (HSNEI) is a 501(c)(3) humane society founded in 1995, in Decorah, Iowa, to help homeless companion animals in the five-county area of Northeast Iowa (Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek counties). Since our founding, we have offered numerous services including dog and cat rescue, fostering and adoption services, humane education, safety and family fun fairs, microchipping for pet identification, financial assistance in spaying/neutering and pet referral services.

Our rescue and adoption program provides temporary care at the Love & Friendship Adoption Center and in foster homes for unwanted and abandoned animals. We also provide a website to help in finding adoptive homes for these animals.

In 2013 the Spay/Neuter Assistance Program of Northeast Iowa (SNAP) joined HSNEI to become one organization working for animals in northeast Iowa.

HSNEI is a Best Friends Network Partner and a PetCo Foundation Partner.
