Say hello to this sweet boy, Jason. His puppy-ish grin and playful nature make it hard for you to tell that he is 5 years old. This polite pup doesn't bark much and enjoys sitting on the couch next to his humans or following them around the house. Jason also loves to cuddle his special humans, so much so that he tends to end up upside down in his urge to snuggle as close to them as possible. He still acts like a young dog, is overjoyed when he sees his family come home from work, and likes crinkle toys the best. Jason is the type of dog that likes to be included and wants to be where the excitement is!

Jason is both house-trained and crate-trained. He behaves in the crate while his fosters are at work or sleeping overnight, though he'd love to sleep in a bed (or yours) instead. Jason is a gentleman when it comes to his leash skills. He doesn't pull but likes space between him and other dogs when he meets them. His foster family is currently working on positive reinforcement to help with this. Jason loves his food and treats, too, so you'll see his tail wagging away when he eats, and he is very gentle when taking treats from your hand. However, he is protective of his meals and would appreciate space away from other pets when eating.

When it comes to meeting new people, Jason can be shy to start. However, after a slow introduction, he warms up to adults and older children (has not been tested with younger children below 8). Treats and a gentle nature are a straight way to his heart. He gets along with other dogs but becomes excited with cats and will chase small animals. His foster family is working with him to curb this excitement.

Jason will need a patient and loving family to care for him. Before coming to Canada, he had to undergo 9 chemotherapy treatments to shrink and remove an advanced Transmissible Venereal Tumour in his groin. Jason underwent surgery and ultimately had to have his penis removed. He is now completely healed and a happy, healthy dog. With this in mind, he sometimes does get some irritation around his urethrostomy site but Jason is excellent about wearing a onesie to cover the it, so matching owner and pet outfits are not out of the question!

Jason's ideal home might be a quiet space with adults and children 6+. A home or apartment would be suitable. He would love another dog playmate and an owner who enjoys going for long walks and cuddle sessions. If Jason sounds like a great addition to your home, please complete the adoption paperwork at allpawsmatter.ca , and we will happily get back to you. This polite and excitable boy is ready and waiting for you!

All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety.

NOTE: The above description is relevant to this dog in its current and previous setting. Home changes and adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim or suggest that our dogs are hypo-allergenic or that they shed/do not shed.

BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters. It is a guess only!
