My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, all the people. My name is Penny and I am a soft soul who loves her people so much. I was born July 30, 2020. I am a young, beautiful girl who is full of life, yet over the puppy stages of life. I am so well behaved, 100% housetrained, not destructive, loving, cuddly and a wonderful family member. Let me tell you about myself. When you come home from a long day, I will greet you with smiles, tail wags and happy little hops, my dance moves. I love to play in the fenced yard, doing zoomies and making everyone smile and laugh. I love to play with toys. I like to carry them around with me and take them to my crate with me. When it's nap time, I will find my bed or comfy spot and curl up. I am an active dreamer, chirping, yipping and running in place. I love sniffy walks early in the morning before it's busy outside. Sniffing along the way is so good for dogs. It's mental enrichment. I am a cuddle-bug. I like spending time with my people and getting pets and scritches. When I need some love, I will gently nudge your elbow. I'm laid back and mellow most of the time. I am content to lounge about with you, watching a movie or reading a book on a rainy day. I am happy to play with you outside or roll in the grass soaking up the sun. If you need more sunshine in your life, apply today and prepare to fall in love. Adoption fee: $80. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip. Penny is spayed, vaccinated and ready to go!

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.

Adoption Process:
Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.
