My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Strawberry came to our attention at the same time we all learned of the horrific events at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Catherine Hubbard was one of the victims in the Newtown school shooting. She was 6 years old and her parents spoke of her love for animals. When she grew up she wanted to work at a shelter. She was a  beautiful little red-headed girl who, like the other 26 victims, were robbed of their futures. When we heard about Strawberry we decided that we would pull her in honor of Catherine, and all of the victims and their families. Strawberry is fully sponsored by the volunteers of MABBR. Our hearts were broken, along with the rest of the country, by this senseless tragedy and we wanted to do something as a group to honor those who lost their lives. Since we’re a rescue we felt that saving a life in memory of the victims would be fitting tribute.

Catherine Hubbard’s family has asked that donations be made to the Newton Animal Center, PO Box 475, Newtown, CT 06470 by anyone wishing to contribute in her honor. We hope you will consider their wishes.

Strawberry is an awesome little girl! She’s about 2 years old and super sweet. She’s a little shy at first but warms up quickly and loves to give gentle hugs. Her eyes stole our hearts. We are just getting to know her but we knew we had to step in when we found out her time was up. So far she’s been a quiet girl with lower energy. She knows sit and down already! She could use some work on her leash skills, she can pull a touch on a walk, but that’s easily remedied with a little time and a bag of yummy treats.
