My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Calvin joined our program just in time. This hunky boy was literally minutes away from euthanasia in a local shelter because they were out of space.

Calvin is the softest, warmest, most gentle dog. He loves to be around his family. He is especially good with children. Calvin is happy with other dogs but gets overwhelmed with a group of dogs. This handsome boy will melt your heart.

From a MABBR volunteer 12/10/11:
He is such a good dog and needs / wants to be with people more than anything. I can’t stand the idea of him being in boarding. Hopefully if someone has been on the fence about fostering a dog they will make the decision to step up and help out poor Calvin.

Update on Calvin 5/7/12:

We were worried about his state of mind in boarding and knew he was getting very depressed. Because the boarding facility wanted to upgrade their flooring, all the dogs in boarding needed to be out for a few days so they could complete the work. A volunteer asked her co-worker to take Calvin home for the weekend and Calvin worked his charm because he hasn’t been back to boarding since. He continues to thrive in foster care, is very responsive to his foster dad and wants nothing more than to hang out with him. He has really come out of his shell and seems to finally feel secure with his surroundings. He loves his foster sisters and everyone he meets. His foster dad has been working on his reaction to other dogs while on leash and has had great success with that. We’re starting to see a side of Calvin that we haven’t seen before – a content and genuinely happy dog.
