My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hope! This lovely lady is full of happiness and has tons of love to give to everyone she meets.

Hope has been in foster homes for seven months now and they have learned so much about her.

Hope:
- Loves sniff spots & thinks a backyard would be cool in her forever home
- Is crate & house trained
- Requests 100 boops a day
- Appreciates a good snuggly nap
- Loves car rides & ice cream outings
- Is obsessed with her pink crocodile
- Has a great set of puppy dog eyes she'll show you when you stop petting her. Hope prefers all the pets please
- Wants to give you lots of kisses

Hope would do best in a home where she can be your one and only pet. The only thing this gem of a pup is missing is her perfect match! Think you're a match for this sweet, smarty gal?

Notes from Hope's human friends:
Per foster 7/18: She's a very very sweet girl. We noticed that she LOVES to make human friends, but she doesn't seem to like small dogs (she also went crazy when she saw a rat, I don't blame her tho). We're working on learning some commands like "wait and "sit And she's doing much better on the walks, she rarely pulls.

Per staff on 6/27: "She was calm as I was approaching her kennel and was easy to leash! She was super excited and ran around the office in complete joy! She hopped into the car, walked 2 miles and enjoyed nature while the sun was still out! Passerby's would call out how cute and sweet she was! When we returned she was panting and exhausted!! She went back into her kennel smoothly

Per staff 6/21: "Hope is a beautiful and happy pup! Everyone on our walks around the city comments how pretty she is. She is super excited to have pets and is learning some basic commands. She is so affectionate and only wants to cuddle and give kisses. She will roll over and let you give her belly rubs to your heart's content. She will want to be on your lap and chilling with her new family but also enjoy the great outdoors with lots of exercise. She appears to have been potty trained and likes long walks. With a heart of gold and some puppy energy - she will need a fun family to hang out with this summer. She would love a good backyard BBQ with less distractions to learn how to be the best dog she can be!! She is playful and thinks all dogs want to be her friend so a harness is highly recommended until she settles in a bit

Per staff 6/16: "Hope is the best - nothing but good things to say about this sweet lady!

Per staff 6/15: "Hope is not good with small dogs and actively tried to pursue a small dog, but nothing happened. She was very sweet with the family and was great with the three kids in the home.

Per staff 6/11: "Hope. I just love Hope. She is such a sweet and gentle being. I walked up to her kennel not realizing it was her. I gravitated to her immediately. Once I realized it was her, it made perfect sense why I was drawn to her. She just has the most sweet and gentle aura.

Per staff 3/9: "Hope is a very sweet girl! She loves to go on walks and is very strong but very attentive to her handler. She enjoys exploring and dog watching with her handler. She is a little shy in her kennel but opens up once she is taken out and is a pretty happy pup! She is also a cuddle bug which is a big plus!! She would be the bestest cuddle bug if taken home and given all the love and care she deserves.

Per staff on 3/5: "Hope is a hugger!! She was shy in her kennel but once we were outside her tail did not stop wagging! She enjoys wandering and was interested in watching other dogs as they walked by.

Per staff on 3/5: "Hope was all curled up in her kennel when I approached but she was very excited to go out. She's a strong lady but she's attentive to her handler. In the dog run she wanted lots of cuddles and pets.

Per staff 2/27: "What an absolute sweetheart. I approached her kennel and she was nervously resting on her bed. I opened her kennel door and she greeted me. She was loose but cautious and walked towards me slowly. Hope allowed for pets and even gave a slight low wag. I can see her being the most loving dog given the opportunity to.

More about this shelter

The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 17,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.

In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement. Other exciting ACCT Philly programs include a food pantry for low-income pet owners, a vibrant volunteer program, trap-neuter-return for community cats, a unique Pen Pal program to assist dogs at risk … and so much more!
