My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wilbur is a pint-sized dynamo with a heart as big as his personality. This fiery boy has faced some unique challenges in his young life, but he's determined to find a forever home filled with love and understanding.

As a tiny puppy, Wilbur had a bit of a rough start when he was dropped, causing a noticeable bump to form on his forehead. His journey has led him to the caring hands of our team and a dedicated neurologist who found he has a condition called meningocele. He developed this from being dropped and sustaining a crack in his skull. Some fluid and brain matter leaked into the bump from the crack. Surgery is not an option for Wilbur, so he will be professionally fitted with a helmet once he is full grown. His ideal owner will be local because once he is full grown, he will need to return to his trusted neurologist for the fitting.

This little guy is full of spirit and spunk. While he's not a fan of being picked up, he absolutely adores spending time outdoors, where he can spin around like a whirlwind and zoom with pure happiness. Wilbur enjoys the company of other dogs and, once he trusts you, he becomes the sweetest, most affectionate companion.

Wilbur does have some neurological issues that make his movements unique, but they only add to his charm and make him all the more special. We have high hopes that there's a loving home out there ready to embrace Wilbur's uniqueness and provide him with the care and attention he needs to thrive. Please reach out to us for more information about this wonderful little guy!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
