My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dede is approximately ten years-old, thirty pounds, and appears to a cattle dog mix. She’s a super sweet girl, but is very scared in new situations. Because of that, she needs an owner who will let her come out of her shell on her time. The first couple of days in her foster home, she mainly just wanted to stay in her crate with the door open. Dede would venture out, but if human or dog moved too quickly, she’d run back to the safety of her “den”. After about a week though, she was feeling a lot more confident and was out and about with the other dogs with no issue. She has been the perfect dog since. Housebroken - check! Housetrained – check! Good with other dogs once she knows them – check! She’s very sweet and loving once she knows you, although children make her nervous. But I think she would be the perfect match for an older person who needs a companion dog. If you would like to meet sweet Dede, please fill out the application!

More about this rescue

Every year thousands of animals are euthanized or sent home to die because the people who love them cannot afford the cost of veterinary care. Stray and abandoned animals have even fewer options when they are brought into a clinic or veterinary office with no owner to pay for their care.

At The Bella Foundation, we believe that every animal should receive the best possible care regardless of the owner's ability to pay. When an owner brings an animal into a clinic for care and cannot afford the cost, the attending veterinarian can contact The Bella Foundation for assistance. If assistance is given, the owner must agree to volunteer at least 8 hours of their time at a local animal shelter. Stray or abandoned animals are cared for with no stipulation attached.

The Bella Foundation takes the placement of animals in homes very seriously and our goal is to do everything possible to match the right animal with the right animal. Our adoption application can be found on our website.
