My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

He is a little shy to give you ALL his personal info, but if you insist. Carter is puppy-like, potty trained, medium size, intelligent, loyal, food motivated, nice car rider, good on leash. He's neutered and vaccinated. Baths are a taste he has not yet acquired, but that brush thing is awesome.

Carter would like everyone to know he doesn't snore. He loves to stretch out as far as his little legs will allow, he's only got 41 1/2 lbs to work with. A fluffy blanket is the best thing ever. Hey, who doesn't love a good nap? Being a busy body is hard work.

Toys are life. He loves to fling toys and balls to himself. If you throw a ball, Carter will enthusiastically run toward the ball, make no attempt whatsoever to pick it up, then proudly run back to you without the ball.

His soft, brown eyes will gladly supervise you going about your day. He'll be glad to silently judge how you load the dishwasher or make sure you are ok in the bathroom. If you start running water, he's outta there though.

Carter's motto is "will work for food. He will sit nicely and give you the eyes for a treat, or will settle for a little pet. Sit is his only trick at the moment. He'd love to learn more, just bring the treats, human.

Did you know dirt and grass is absolutely fascinating to smell? Carter will help you explore nature. He is really good at walking or will break out to a jog if you'd like. Will even walk very nicely with that leash thing y'all like. But don't forget about the good smells, must investigate.

Carter is taking applications to be his best friend. He takes a little bit of time to trust you, kinda shy at first. Once you are in, you are IN. Would you like to meet him? He'd love to meet you!

More about this rescue

A New Leash on Life has a goal of saving all the adoptable pets about to die in the municipal shelters of Alabama until we become a NO KILL state. We rescue, provide veterinary care, provide a foster home or adoption center spot, and find adopters who are good matches for homeless dogs and cats...AND horses, pigs, rabbits, and any other animal who needs our help. All animals are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, testing (HW for dogs, FIV/Felv for cats), and whatever else they need before adoption.
