My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60625
ESTIMATED DOB: 04/2015
WEIGHT: 55lbs
KIDS: Likely
DOGS: Yes
CATS: No

HISTORY:
Frito Pie came to us from a rural Louisiana shelter. He came to us with Josie when their owner passed away and the neighbor paid for boarding until they could find a shelter to take them.

ABOUT:
Frito Pie has a kind, loving, gentle soul with a side of enthusiasm. Frito Pie will make you feel amazing each time you go out to check the mail as he will act like you have been gone for hours when you come back in. Frito Pie loves with his whole heart. He will always be sitting next to you on the couch and sleeps in bed with his fosters. His foster typically doesn’t allow that, but it was clear he had done it in the past and it was hard to tell him no. He likes to spend 5 minutes right next to you professing his love, and then he usually gets up and goes to the end of the bed by himself.

Frito Pie does well when left alone and does not need to be crated, but he cannot be left where food is available as he is very self sufficient and will help himself. Frito Pie is generally a quiet guy, but he will bark out of excitement when you come home and will also bark with the other dogs when someone walks through the alley.

Frito Pie has to be first in line when attention is being passed out and he will bump into the other dogs in his pursuit of attention. He’s agreeable to sharing - one hand for him, and one hand for another dog, but he will never miss an opportunity. Frito has a fenced yard in his foster home, but he enjoys walks and is very easy to walk on leash.

Frito Pie is being fostered with both large and small breed dogs and is very tolerant, even of the sassy small dogs. He is happy to welcome every new foster, but he can be a little too happy/overwhelming at first (especially to the small dogs), so we like to give him a little time to get to know them. In his Louisiana shelter he was regularly turned out with 10-15 other dogs. Frito Pie loves attention, and would likely easily adjust to being an only child.

Frito Pie is not being fostered with children, but he is very tolerant and doesn’t know what personal space is, so he would likely enjoy children. We would recommend children old enough to handle his occasional excessive happiness, as sometimes he will bump into you or paw at you. No cats or small animals for Frito Pie.

Josie has completed the injections for heartworm treatment. She will need one final test to confirm it was successful in June of 2024. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.
