Manu, the beautiful Malinois mix, is a quiet and sensitive boy with soul-piercing eyes. He is very shy and timid with people, but with lots of love and patience, he is learning to trust humans and his confidence grows every day! He gets along sweetly with other dogs, he has made several friends at the shelter and he LOVES to play and romp with them in the play yards. Manu has enjoyed several shelter breaks with amazing PAWS staff and volunteers, where he learned to relax and enjoy being in a home environment. Here are some notes from his foster families, for potential adopters to consider:
"Manu is the easiest houseguest! He mostly keeps to himself, he is very independent and prefers to calmly observe people doing people-things. He adores our other dogs, he is a respectful and peaceful member of the pack. He is also great around our livestock and horses; absolutely no desire to bark or chase. While he does not particularly crave or demand human affection, he will accept gentle petting and can easily be handled once you earn his trust. Manu is also housebroken, crate-trained, and walks nicely on a leash. He appreciates always having access to the yard, he comes and goes freely through a doggie door. Being outside in the fresh air definitely helps him relax and calm his mind. He also takes refuge in quiet spaces around our house, such as his kennel bed or under the kitchen table. Manu is the most low-maintenance dog ever, he is so well-behaved and he's perfectly happy just doing his own thing.
We think Manu will absolutely thrive in a quiet & low-traffic home, ideally with another canine friend to show him the ropes. He also will need a very gentle and patient adopter, as it may take some time for Manu to settle in and feel safe in his new home.
