My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Yogi! This sweet, happy boy is well-loved here at Animal Friends. He had a tough start to life, arriving as a small puppy through our Humane Investigations department. Because his situation involved a lengthy legal process, Yogi has grown up at the shelter before finally becoming available for adoption — and he’s become a truly wonderful dog. He’s made so many friends, learned great doggy manners, and made incredible progress during his time with us.

Yogi is a high-energy boy who loves to play, go on adventures, and enjoy enrichment activities. Now, it’s finally time for this special guy to experience a real home! Yogi would do best as the only dog in an adult-only home.

Some of Yogi's best qualities are:
*He has been working with several of our dedicated handlers on his manners, and has mastered a few different skills during his time here!
*He is very affectionate, and loves to spend quiet time with his handlers doing enrichment.
*He has learned how to walk well on a harness, and even goes on cage breaks to go hiking sometimes where he rides well in the car.
*He is incredibly smart, and is open to learning more skills!

Yogi is a part of several programs here, including our Foster-To-Adopt program, which means for four weeks our trainers here at Animal Friends will work with you and Yogi on his behavior and training within his new home.

Yogi is one of our Extra Loved residents. Although all of our resident animals get plenty of love, many of them come from backgrounds that require them to need a little extra. Extra care. Extra attention. Extra patience. They've certainly been extra loved here! If you have room in your heart and your home to give one of our special animals, check with our Adoption team to learn about our Extra Loved program and if there is any additional support we may be able to offer alongside your adoption!

This dog is also a part of our Rosie's Rule program. Animal Friends has teamed up with Fi Smart Dog Collar to provide GPS-enabled dog collars for Animal Friends’ canine residents who are at an increased risk of becoming separated from their handler and not being safely reunited. These dogs may startle easily, have had a lack of human socialization or attempt to flee or hide in unfamiliar settings. Once outfitted with a Fi collar, Rosie’s Rule dogs will keep their collar through adoption along with a one-year subscription to the Fi App – at no cost to their new family.
