My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Petunia’s story carries a profound legacy. She came to us during an Oklahoma City shelter sweep, one of the nine precious lives Jenni rescued in honor of the 80 dogs who tragically lost their chance during a 48-hour period. Her presence here honors those we've lost, but also represents the countless lives, like hers, that we’re saving every day.
From the moment Annabelle named her, it was clear that Petunia was special. Her name evokes imagery of beauty and charm, perfect foa sweet, chunky girl who deserves to be cherished.
We don’t know whether she was a stray or an owner surrender, but her adorable chunky frame suggested she wasn’t wandering for long—she came in as one fluffy, well-fed girl. On intake, the shelter even described her as "too fluffy and chunky to check" to verify her spay status, capturing her personality and charm before we even had a chance to meet her.
True to form, Petunia’s enthusiasm for breakfast, dinner, and snacks knows no bounds—mealtimes are her favorite moments, and she’ll charm you with her vocal excitement and antics. And Though she enjoys her time in the play yard, Petunia is a low-energy girl who appreciates the simple joys of lounging and relaxing.
Independent by nature, she’s perfectly content with a couple of snacks or a Kong toy to keep her company while you’re at work. But don’t let her laid-back demeanor fool you—she’s also full of sass, goofiness, and personality. Petunia does like to be in charge, so she would thrive in a smaller, more submissive pack or as the queen of her castle.
When she’s not basking in her independence or eating her meals, she’s happy to snuggle up for love and attention, reminding you that she’s not just sassy but also incredibly sweet.
If you’re looking for a big, sassy girl with an old-soul vibe and tons of personality, Petunia might be the perfect match for you! Apply to adopt Petunia today!

More about this shelter

We are committed and wholeheartedly dedicated to providing family and emergency services involving rescuing, sheltering, fostering, vetting, adoption and transportation of
"at risk" or "death row" husky and other large dog breeds.

Our goal is to not only provide these services in larger facilities than we currently have but also to use our resources to educate and raise public awareness on the benefits of properly caring for and keeping their pets and/or adopting from shelters and not shopping from breeders.

Our mission is to share our knowledge on the pro's of spay and neuter, the cons of backyard breeding and provide sound advice and services that help the community manage their day to day with their furry family members. Together, we can greatly reduce the number of unaltered, unvaccinated animals in our communities and put a dent in the homeless population by providing access to family services as well as spay, neuter and chip id programs.
