Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
This handsome rock star is on the lookout for his forever home! He’s young, full of adventure, and still polishing up his house manners—but he's off to a great start!
Scout is the perfect hiking buddy, especially if there’s water involved. He loves his space but also enjoys cuddles when he's in the mood. Independent yet routine-driven, he thrives with mental stimulation—because when he’s bored, let’s just say... he gets creative.
Treats? Say no more. Scout is intensely treat motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. He’s smart, he knows it, and he’s always down to work for a snack.
A Stockton, California stray, Scout is around three years old and a total **sasshole—**and he knows it. He won’t be pushed around but can definitely coexist with other dogs. He isn’t one to start trouble, but if something’s going down, he’s likely in the middle of it.
With people, though? He’s gentle, loving, and sweet to the core. He has a possessive streak—not in a pushy way, but if someone is giving him attention, he expects his turn—no cutting in line! When it comes to food, he’ll guard his meal but otherwise ignores the feeders. His philosophy? “What’s mine is mine, but if I’m done, I don’t mind sharing.”
💙 A personal story, from Tracy...
The first time I met Scout was during my very first visit to the rescue. Annabelle and I were making rounds, feeding the dogs, when we entered the quarantine building. Scout was there, skinny and struggling, having been hit hard by shelter crud after Jenni saved him. Annabelle warned me, “Scout takes longer. We have to spoon-feed him.”
And that’s exactly what I did—spoon-fed this scraggly little husky, crouched on the floor, scooping out bites of wet food while he slowly ate. Even though he felt awful, he soaked up the care, the baby talk (yes, I’m one of those people), and the individual attention. That moment changed me. My heart burst into a million pieces—love, awe, and a deep connection that I’ll never forget.
Scout will always have a special place in my heart. Now, he just needs someone to open theirs for him. Could that be you? 💙

More about this shelter
We are committed and wholeheartedly dedicated to providing family and emergency services involving rescuing, sheltering, fostering, vetting, adoption and transportation of
"at risk" or "death row" husky and other large dog breeds.
Our goal is to not only provide these services in larger facilities than we currently have but also to use our resources to educate and raise public awareness on the benefits of properly caring for and keeping their pets and/or adopting from shelters and not shopping from breeders.
Our mission is to share our knowledge on the pro's of spay and neuter, the cons of backyard breeding and provide sound advice and services that help the community manage their day to day with their furry family members. Together, we can greatly reduce the number of unaltered, unvaccinated animals in our communities and put a dent in the homeless population by providing access to family services as well as spay, neuter and chip id programs.
