Cody is a fun loving guy who was transferred to us from animal control. He is full of energy and love. He's a handsome boy with split color in one eye! He is always ready to play and receive affection. He's very friendly with all the people and dogs he has met since he has been with us.
Cody came to us appearing to be a happy and healthy guy. Unfortunately, he started to show some odd symptoms like an inflamed eye, shifting leg lameness, and an unexplained on and off fever. After getting him looked at by two different local regular veterinarians, he was referred to see an internal med specialist. He was then officially diagnosed with Blastomycosis.
Blastomycosis is a fungal disease that is not contagious to other animals or people. He was most likely exposed to this fungus prior to being brought into animal control. Unfortunately his eye was so damaged that the only option was to remove it, which has made him a lot more comfortable. He is being treated with an oral antifungal medication and feeling great!
Cody has been in a foster home for several months, and he is doing great and is a happy boy! He's ready to settle down with a forever family who will give him all the love he wants.
Cody is estimated to be 2-3 years old and weighs around 60lbs. He is open to meeting resident dogs. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. If you are interested in fostering or fostering to adopt Cody, please fill out an application at al-van.org/adopt.
