My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We rescued Roscoe from euthanasia when he was surrendered to a Kansas shelter by his owners. After being at the shelter for 2 months Roscoe found himself on the euthansia list due to lack of space. His owners did not fill out any paperwork on Roscoe so not much was known about his history. What we do know is during his time at the shelter all the volunteers fell in love with him!

Roscoe is one of our six sanctuary dogs. He has been with us in rescue since 2021. Roscoe has been in his foster home for such a long time now that we feel he would not do well transitioning to a new home. So we will continue to love and care for him in rescue. We appreciate donations towards his food/treats, monthly preventatives, and routines vet care.

Hi my name is Roscoe. I'm not sure what mixed breed I am but I'm a giant love bug and weigh in at 100 lbs. I'm tall with a long, lean body and maybe I have some Anatolian Shepherd in me. I love attention from my people, especially being petted and getting belly rubs. You might even call me a velcro dog. When my foster dad gets home, I happily greet him. Still playful at my age, when I get excited I spin around. I enjoy being outside and like to go for walks. When we first set out on a walk I pull a little and I'm a little nervous around cars. I enjoy the companionship of other dogs, but I'm not sure about cats. Because I have some chronic inflammation in my knees, I take a daily anti inflammatory and joint supplement. I am up to date on vaccines, up to date on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped.

Requirements for adoption: A secure, visible fence. Applicants must pass a home check and a vet check which includes having at least a two year vet history. Roscoe can be adopted in Missouri and surrounding states: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and Arkansas.

More about this rescue

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri is dedicated to rescuing Great Pyrenees who are without a home, need medical attention, or just need a safe haven as they transition to their forever home. We are a volunteer, nonprofit rescue, relying solely on your generous donations. We are currently working to establish our rescue facility in St. Clair, Missouri. Until our facility is constructed, we will be foster based only, with fosters in Missouri and surrounding states. We will continue to have fosters after our facility is built. Our facility will allow us to rescue more Pyrenees in need.
