My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Stanley, a striking 1-year-old male bully breed mix, with a sleek black and white coat that perfectly matches his charming personality. Despite his young age, Stanley has experienced a lot of instability, which has shaped his current needs and behavior.

Background: Stanley's journey so far has been a bit tumultuous, originally found abandoned in a sewer drain pipe at only 8 months old, he lacked the stability, structure, and love he desperately needed. As a result, he currently struggles with being around other dogs, finding it too overstimulating to be at our facility. This handsome boy requires a calm and dog-free environment where he can flourish without feeling overwhelmed.

On the leash, Stanley is a star - he walks beautifully, showing his potential for learning and adapting. However, he can be fearful and shy when encountering new experiences. It's clear that beneath his initial hesitation lies a curious and engaging spirit.

What Stanley Needs: This wonderful dog is active and craves a lifestyle that can match his energy. He needs a patient adopter/family who can offer him a consistent routine and a structured environment. At this time, we feel the perfect home for Stanley would be one without other pets, where he can be the sole focus of attention and care. His ideal forever family would be experienced, understanding, and willing to work with him through his fears and anxieties. Patience and gentle, consistent training will be key in helping Stanley become the best version of himself.

If you have the heart, time, and environment to dedicate to this special boy, please consider opening your home to Stanley. Your commitment can transform his life and reward you with the loyalty and affection of a truly remarkable dog. What are you waiting for? Adopt Flat Stanley and embark on this fulfilling journey together.

More about this rescue

We are a foster based animal rescue in the Nashville area.

Our mission is to work as a shelter diversion for animals who are facing homelessness, through no fault of their own. We provide vet care, a foster and adoption for animals belonging to owners who are homeless or living below the poverty level, where rehoming is their only option.

The majority of SOARescue animals come to us through our big sister organization SAFPAW (Southern Alliance for People and Animal Welfare).
If you would like to learn more about SAFPAW and their weekly spay/neuter transport, homeless outreach program and women's post recovery home, please visit their website at www.safpaw.org.

If SOARescue has the capacity to aid with other strays or owner surrenders, we will gladly do so. Our goal is to help relieve pressure on the over-burdened shelter system.
