My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BIRDIE-Sponsorship needed
IMPORTANT: The Nature Network Inc. is a small 501c3 non-profit no-kill organization. Most animals we rescue are abandoned at the pound, who no one wants--seniors and special-needs. 100% of all funds are used for them—extensive veterinary and medical costs, prescription meds, rehab, special foods, supplements, and more. We are deeply grateful for help. To meet us, help us, or if you know people or businesses who would like to, please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (Also our PayPal Giving email address for donation and sponsorship).
Mailing: The Nature Network Inc., 3826 Grand View Blvd., #66790, Los Angeles, CA 90066.
100% of all funds are used for our rescued animals. Our Board members and our president and founder are all volunteers.
Our veterinary references are available upon request.

BIRDIE is a senior special-needs little girl who is now Sponsorship only, and requires special food and care. She has a constantly recurring growth, she is now 12 going on 13 years old, she has a funny little cough when she gets excited which we also need to examine just in case there is a tracheal issue. She will need careful surgery to remove the growth, and at the same time serious teeth scaling (including just beneath the gum line, and always the possibility of removal of any tooth that is beyond help).

She is highly intelligent, but because of age, no longer a good adoption prospect, so will get to stay with us for the rest of her years. We do this with many pups who are no longer adoptable, a labor of love :o) But unfortunately this brings on many increasingly large veterinary costs, to keep them healthy and to deal with any treatable issues they may encounter.

Birdie is most likely a combination of Yorkshire Terrier and Chinese Crested with maybe a little Papillion thrown in. She is ten pounds.

She was rescued from an unsafe situation and has bonded with Alice, another special-needs senior rescue girl pup at our place. The other older senior would not do well without Birdie and they keep each other happy, while receiving the specialized care they need.

Birdie has been spayed, is current on everything, receiving every kind of veterinary care she needs.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

After completing an adoption application, speaking by telephone, and coming to see our pet (if qualified), we will visit your home. If qualified, we bring our pet for a two week trial period with an application and contract.

Go meet their pets

Our adoptable pets are boarded at kennels, veterinarians, foster homes and our friends' and family's homes. We sometimes also take part in Best Friends and Animal Planet adoption events. We recommend calling us to discuss your adoption needs. If it sounds like you would be happy and the pet would be happy, we can arrange for everyone to meet.
See our organization's info about our plans to purchase our dream animal sanctuary and humane education center---but not without your help.

More about this rescue

The Nature Network Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit no-kill federal tax exempt organization, publicly supported and existing entirely with the generous help of animal loving people. 100% of all donations are used directly for rescued animals. No expensive advertising, so salaries, no human "expenses".

We rescue mainly special-needs and senior dogs, cats, horses, other domestic pets, birds, and wildlife, mostly on their last day of life from Los Angeles area pounds, and we work with local wildlife rescue organizations to save wildlife and birds (injured or orphaned). We love animals very much, and feel there can never be enough help for all animals in need, or enough loving homes or enough birth control for the domestic ones.

We are currently seeking grants, donors and sponsors to purchase the animal sanctuary and education center we have found for the Nature Network in the Valley area of Los Angeles.

We are preparing to again produce and host a previously award winning television show about the rescue and protection of domestic and wild animals and preservation of natural habitats.

More information to come soon. Our website, www.thenaturenetwork.org is currently under re-design, and will be up and active soon.
