Sally and her "brother" Harry are both rescues from a kill pen in Louisiana. Sally is approximately 10 years old.
Sally was incredibly shy of people and had clearly been abused. We could only get to her after gently pushing her into a stall; once in the stall she would tremble with her whole body.
Sally is a special needs girl: she, more so than Harry, battles obesity and we had to build a track for them to keep their weight down. Sally easily gets laminitis if on too much food so the track is a life saving necessity for her. Since she's been on the track she hasn't become lame a single time!
Sally and Harry's history is a mystery, but there is a good chance they used to pull a cart which they still could but because of their health and age they can only do very light work.
They can still use some fine-tuning in regards to trusting people but that's just a matter of spending time with them which here at the rescue ranch there is never enough of.
Both Sally and Harry don't have a mean bone in their body. Even when Sally was super scared she'd never even try to kick or bite.
Sally can be led and stands great for the farrier.

Additional adoption info
we want to make sure that the pet and new family are the right fit to avoid the animal being surrendered again or getting passed on. To ensure this we ask questions on lifestyle (if adopter is very active or not), how much they are home, what other animals are in the home/on the property etc. We want to both the animal as well as the adopter be set up for success which is that both sides are happy and their needs are met.
