My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Woof, I'm Denali! I may not have words, but I've got a big, happy smile that's hard to resist. Life has been a bit tough on me - after begging for help at a gas station, Big Love Rescue saved me. They took care of my medical needs and now I'm really hoping to find a cozy home where I can bask in lots of love. I'm 5-7 years old and 66 pounds. My foster mom says I'm an easy going, sweet, quiet boy who loves to hang out with you on the couch. I like affection but I’m not pushy about it. I am happy to chill while you eat, play games, or watch TV. I am house trained, crate trained, an avid road tripper, and walk well with my harness. I’ve done well in doggy play groups when I was at boarding. Slow and proper introductions to any new friends are important. I'd also be just fine as the only dog, soaking up all the love. Can you open your home and heart to give me the life I truly deserve? I'm available to adopt anywhere in Texas and other transportation can be arranged. Can you share my story to help me find a home?

Brags from my foster mom:
-Crate trained
-House trained (can hold it and knows how to use doggy door too)
-Non-destructive when left free roaming
-Sleeps through the night (no snoring, no waking me up)
-Very minimal barking
-Low energy; he enjoys walks and day naps
-Rides excellent in the car!
-Has done well with other dogs (we always recommend slow intros)
-Has done well in supervised visits around kids ages 5-16 (we always recommend slow intros)
-Has not been tested with cats but doesn’t seem to chase squirrels or bunnies
-Will lay on the floor or chew his bone while you eat, play games, or watch TV - love that he doesn’t beg or bother us!
-Loves being around/next you, but isn’t demanding about affection
-Gentle treat taker
-Polite greeter (ie. He does not jump on people when they enter the door)
-Has not displayed any guarding behavior
-Allows nail clippings at home
-Knows Sit
-Learning Wait, Out of the Kitchen, & Leave it
**Denali is a good boy who checks ALL the boxes! As long as you are willing to initially go at his pace with slow intros, he warms up quickly. The effort is well worth the reward!

Additional adoption info

We are extremely thorough with our adoption process. Our goal is to find the best fit for our dogs. We reserve the right to deny anyone a dog if we feel the applicant is not qualified or is not a good fit for the dog at our discretion. We require two personal references that we call to check character and get a recommendation on why or why not the applicant is a good candidate. Also, we call the vet reference to be sure the applicants current dog is current on vaccinations and heartworm prevention. The home check is mandatory to be sure the applicant lives where they say they live and the pet will live in a safe environment.

More about this rescue

The Charity's specific purpose is to rescue lost or abandoned dogs from shelters, from the streets or from owners who are no longer able to care for them. Our goal is to prevent further euthanasia of these animals. All dogs receive medical care and behavioral training as needed to prepare them for a new home.
We do not have a facility.
All of our dogs are in foster homes.
The charity will also focus on efforts to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their animals to prevent the overpopulation of animals in Texas.
Our adoption fee is $300 which includes alteration, vaccines, microchip, training program in some cases & any medical treatments needed for each dog to be 100% healthy and successful in a home. Must have an approved application to set up a meet and greet.
