My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dixie and her two companions were abruptly abandoned when their owners moved out west. They had been living in an outdoor kennel all their lives and had been profoundly neglected. AC ARF learned about the situation and quickly moved to get them out of their squalid environment, bathed and vetted. Two wonderful families stepped up to temporarily foster the dogs while a permanent home is found and where each will blossom and live the lives they deserve. Considering their very limited background, it is amazing that these dogs are house trained! Smart pups!

Dixie is a confident sweetheart and, as you can see from the pictures, it didn’t take her long to make herself right at home with her foster mom. She is four years old and has a sweet temperament. She lived with dogs and a cat, is accustomed to children, and will be a great companion for her special person(s). A husky/shepherd/heinz mix, Dixie weighs 42 pounds, is spayed, and is up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.

Unfortunately, Dixie tested light heartworm positive and is currently under treatment (with expenses fully sponsored by AC ARF). Nevertheless Dixie is a comfortable, happy girl ready for a long term foster or a foster to adopt family, and eventually a permanent home. This friendly girl will totally blend in and become an integral member of a lucky family. Please message us or contact Katrina at 865-414-2492 to learn more about this beautiful girl.
