My name is Mateo but my foster mom calls me shorty, probably because of my short legs. I am a basset hound but my face looks a lot like a German shepherd. I’m very sweet and affectionate. They think I'm around 1-2 years old. I sleep quietly in my crate at night and I haven’t had any accidents at my foster moms house.
When a rescue in Mexico found me, I had been living on the streets and struggling to find meals. I traveled a pretty far distance: all the way from Mexico to the midwest in search of a family and stability.
Because of my past with food-insecurity, I don’t know how to share snacks/treats/etc with others. Please be patient as I try to overcome this, and help set me up for success by not having me in situations where there could be “food scuffles” with other pets. (Thank you in advance for making sure that my needs are met and I don’t have to go hungry anymore!)
I have a lot of energy, but that’s part of my charm! I’m a silly boy and you’re guaranteed to laugh. I’m smart as a whip and can learn tricks and commands quite well. Although I’m high-energy, I also have great regulation skills and can calm down when it’s time for cuddles.
I may have left a warmer climate, but I am still in search of a warm HOME. Will you open your doors and your hearts to me?
Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00
