My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Stella is available for in-state adoption or adoption and transport to another state. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs in Texas, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home.

A family observed Stella being pushed out of a vehicle and abandoned. They took her in and were planning on keeping her since she was such a great dog - being good with their dog, cats, and chickens. But their first dog did not like Stella so she had to go. Stella is microchipped and we discovered that she was adopted from a shelter in Greenville SC. The adopter moved to Texas and told us that they had "rehomed" her.

Stella is a yellow lab/chow mix (she has the purple tongue of a chow) and she weighs 80+ pounds. The microchip data tells us that she is 6 years old. Stella is a very good dog. The people who found her say that Stella is fine with cats and chickens. She has no interest in them. Stella is house-trained and very well-behaved in the house. She will whine when she needs to go outside. Stella rides well in a vehicle, sits on command, and comes when called. She likes to go on walks (but pulls on the leash sometimes). So she could use some additional gentle obedience training. Stella has not shown any interest in toys or chew bones, but she loves treats. Stella loves to lay outside and likes searching for squirrels in the trees. She is also content to relax on her bed in the house and she loves pets, scratches, belly rubs, and human attention.

Stella needs an experienced dog-savvy home. She will need a few days to learn to trust new people and unfamiliar situations but treats quickly make things better. We recommend that she only be around older children who know how to behave respectfully with dogs. Stella is great with small dogs. She has no fear of them and will simply ignore them and she will even play with some of them. But Stella is an alpha and will butt heads with any large dog that growls or otherwise challenges her. She is fine with easy-going dogs who are content to let her be the alpha. Stella is not food aggressive but expects a dog that is eating to surrender the food bowl when she walks up. So we just feed her separately. Stella would be okay as an only dog. Stella must be in the house as a loved member of the family. She needs to be walked on a leash and needs a securely fenced yard to sun herself and go potty.

Stella is healthy. She is spayed and tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Stella is heartworm-negative and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. We would love Stella to have a fabulous forever home and we will consider both in-state and out-of-state applicants. Stella has a $200 in-state adoption fee. Her out-of-state adoption fee is $450 and includes the cost of ground transport. She can be transported almost anywhere within the continental United States. Stella is located in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. Please send an email to 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting this wonderful girl.
