My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Wraith

Breed: Pitbull/Boxer Mix

Sex/Age/Weight: Female/2 years old/56lbs

Vetting: Up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Will be spayed and microchipped prior to adoption.

House trained/Crate Trained: In progress.

Dogs/Cats/Children: Wraith got along well with one young female dog, but hasn't been tested around other dogs or cats. Wraith has not been observed around children. I can be dog, cat, or kid tested upon request.

Energy Level: Low to medium right now, but I may be more active as I settle in.

Before FAR/My History: I was found wandering through pecan orchards looking for food, water, and relief in the July heat.

Training Status/Commands I know: Sit

Working on: Everything, but I am a quick learner! I have been on my own for so long, but I am learning how to be a sociable dog!

Things I like: Food and Scratches! I will be your best friend for a treat! If you sit down near me, I will be in your lap ready to snuggle. I love walks, car rides, and trips to Tractor Supply to look at all the toys and treats. I really enjoy brushes and hose baths with a lot of scrubbing.

Things I don’t like: If I am inside my kennel or inside the car, I get nervous if people stand outside of it for too long. I have a loud, deep bark, but don’t let that scare you. I just want to be where the people are. I don’t like to be left out.

Things that make my humans happy: My resilience and trust. I was almost dead in July, but in less than 3 weeks I became a thriving, happy pup. I just want to be involved with whatever my new humans are doing, and I don’t let my past troubles affect my present attitude.

Ideal Family/Home: Right now I bunk beside another FAR pup “Sheila aka Havoc,”, but she is the only dog I have met. I think I would like to have a new sibling, but I need to meet them slowly. I seem to have a strong prey drive and hunting instincts, so a home without cats or small dogs is probably best for me.

Special Notes: I am an overgrown lapdog who is so happy to have humans who treat me well.

If you are interested in giving me a forever home, please visit the link below to fill out an application! http://fureverafterrescue.org/adoption-application.html It is best to submit an application through a computer. We have experienced some problems when applications have been submitted using a mobile device. *When you submit the application, you are not obligated to adopt however it does reserve for you the opportunity to adopt that particular animal. We review them on a first come first served basis. If your application is approved, we will contact you and allow you the opportunity to adopt. If you choose not to adopt, we will contact the next approved applicant. If you have any questions or difficulties, please contact us and we will be glad to help!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the potential adopter filling out an adoption application. In the application, you can specify a particular dog in which you are interested, or let us know what type of pet in which you are looking, so we can find the perfect animal to fit your family and your needs. Once the application is received, a board member will review the application, and make contact with the potential adopter within 48 hours. This initial contact may include further questions/more information, or may include scheduling a meet and greet for you to meet the animal in which you are interested! Once the application is approved or the meet and greet goes well, then the adoption can be finalized. To finalize the adoption, an adoption agreement must be completed, the adoption fee paid (we accept cash, paypal, or credit/debit card), and then the potential adopter can take their new family member home with them or schedule pick up of their furry family member! The adoption fee varies based on the dog or puppy you are interested in. Some of the adoption fees have been listed on the individual dog's description but if you do not see one then please reach out and we would be happy to talk to you about it! If you are interested in any of our animals, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!!

Go meet their pets

We hold adoption events some Saturdays at various locations around middle GA from 11 am-3 pm. Check our Facebook page for updates on Events! We are also able to arrange meet and greets for local adopters!

More about this rescue

Furever After Rescue, a 501(c)(3) organization, is a no-kill, foster-based rescue devoted to finding homes for animals needing a loving home. Most of our animals come from local, high-kill shelters with some occasionally coming from bad situations and owner surrender. Our animals are immediately placed in foster homes where they learn love and are taught how to live in a home environment. All of our animals are up-to-date on their age-appropriate vetting needs and are tested for personality traits as best as possible. We have many wonderful pets looking for forever homes!
