My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Hilly aka Opal

Breed: Pitbull Terrier/Boxer Mix

Sex/Age/Weight: Female/1 year old/45 lbs

Vetting: Up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm negative

House trained/Crate Trained: Yes to both!

Dogs/Cats/Children: She is great around kids and loves other dogs! She would do best in a home with no cats or small dogs because she can be a little silly and play a bit rough.

Energy Level: Low to medium

Before FAR/My History: Hilly aka Opal was pulled from Bibb County Animal Shelter. She was on the euthanasia list, and we thought she was too sweet and goofy to let her go. Since then, she has blossomed and has quite the big personality. She's silly and loves to make you laugh! She's very sweet and loving.

Training Status/Commands I know: Hilly aka Opal knows sit, down, place and her name. She is trained to walk in a heel position while on structured walks, and is also e collar trained.

Things I like: Going on walks, belly rubs, blankets, sunbathing, and playing with other dogs.

Ideal Family/Home: A home where she has a yard to play in. She would be happy either as an only dog or with another sweet dog. She would love humans who are active and want to keep up with all her training. She is a great hiking buddy and loves to go for walks, but also would love a comfy couch to lay on.

If you are interested in giving me a forever home, please visit the link below to fill out an application! http://fureverafterrescue.org/adoption-application.html It is best to submit an application through a computer. We have experienced some problems when applications have been submitted using a mobile device. *When you submit the application, you are not obligated to adopt however it does reserve for you the opportunity to adopt that particular animal. We review them on a first come first served basis. If your application is approved, we will contact you and allow you the opportunity to adopt. If you choose not to adopt, we will contact the next approved applicant. If you have any questions or difficulties, please contact us and we will be glad to help!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the potential adopter filling out an adoption application. In the application, you can specify a particular dog in which you are interested, or let us know what type of pet in which you are looking, so we can find the perfect animal to fit your family and your needs. Once the application is received, a board member will review the application, and make contact with the potential adopter within 48 hours. This initial contact may include further questions/more information, or may include scheduling a meet and greet for you to meet the animal in which you are interested! Once the application is approved or the meet and greet goes well, then the adoption can be finalized. To finalize the adoption, an adoption agreement must be completed, the adoption fee paid (we accept cash, paypal, or credit/debit card), and then the potential adopter can take their new family member home with them or schedule pick up of their furry family member! The adoption fee varies based on the dog or puppy you are interested in. Some of the adoption fees have been listed on the individual dog's description but if you do not see one then please reach out and we would be happy to talk to you about it! If you are interested in any of our animals, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!!

Go meet their pets

We hold adoption events some Saturdays at various locations around middle GA from 11 am-3 pm. Check our Facebook page for updates on Events! We are also able to arrange meet and greets for local adopters!

More about this rescue

Furever After Rescue, a 501(c)(3) organization, is a no-kill, foster-based rescue devoted to finding homes for animals needing a loving home. Most of our animals come from local, high-kill shelters with some occasionally coming from bad situations and owner surrender. Our animals are immediately placed in foster homes where they learn love and are taught how to live in a home environment. All of our animals are up-to-date on their age-appropriate vetting needs and are tested for personality traits as best as possible. We have many wonderful pets looking for forever homes!
