Maui is a spry, older boy. He is approx 11 years old and weighs about 14 pounds. He can be a bit shy and stand-off-ish at first but has warmed up to his foster family pretty quickly. Maui is selective about other dogs, and doesn't like to share his human. He would not do well in a home with kids, cats, or other dogs. He is the typical min pin and can sometimes be stubborn when he doesn’t want to do something or doesn’t want to come inside or go to his crate. He doesn’t seem to mind being crated.

He is very good about letting us know when he needs to go outside and can be a bit vocal when he wants something. He does fine on a leash but does seem to want to lead the walk. He would be best in a home with someone who would be patient and work with him slowly on the things he doesn’t want to do. He has the cutest bunny buck teeth which are visible when he is telling you he doesn’t want to do something.

He gets cold easily, so we dress him up in sweaters, which has seemed to help. He can be nervous around new people and loud noises. He can be a little food aggressive but we feed him separately and there’s no problem (possible chicken allergy due to a history of feet chewing). He loves car rides and is fairly active for an older boy. His previous owners told us he’s not very affectionate, but we have seen him coming out of his shell and can be very loving and snuggly. He seems to prefer women to men.

Maui is located in the St. Louis area and his adoption fee is $75.
