My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The cutest little villain around!

Oh, hi there! My name is Loki. Like my Marvel namesake, I’m charming and bundles of fun. I’m a 1 year old, 40-pound neutered lab mix. When I was rescued as a stray in Long Beach, I didn’t have use of my back legs. After being medically assessed, I don’t need surgery and I’m not in pain! I am making astounding progress everyday and can now stand and walk on my own with the use booties on my back paws. I just need help getting up and down. I’ve been loving life with my foster and the only thing that would make me happier is a planet to rule… ahem, I mean a home of my own!

I’m an outgoing boy who loves other dogs and playing with them. I bark to say hello and just want their attention! I have plenty of supervillain energy (aka puppy energy) but my play is limited with my legs. I love chewing on toys, bones, and being a loyal boy! I haven’t met any cats or kids so I’m not sure what I think about them yet. I hope we’d be buddies! What I love most of all is attention and affection from my people. I’m a big softie– don’t tell the other “bad guys.”

Unlike the original Loki, I’m a well-behaved boy! I am crate-trained(but shouldn't spend too much time in there to prevent atrophy) and potty trained. I’m leash-trained for shorter walks and love to strut my stuff! I like to ride in the wagon or wheelchair for longer adventures. I love getting out for walks and to explore! I also need continued fun therapy sessions like swim, physical, walking etc. I get mild separation anxiety but nothing too dramatic. I just adore keeping my people company and being the most loyal boy in the galaxy. I am good with basic obedience and acing the course!

If you are active and looking for an unbeatable sidekick, I’m your guy! I’d do well in a home where I can be the star of the show and get all of the attention and love. I’d also be happy with another pooch who will be patient with me. Being at home, I can get around on carpeted surfaces with traction and lifting myself up, and on wooden floor I scoot around and drag myself. I am quite mobile, so you dont need to worry! So what do you say? Adopt MARVELous Loki today! You can also check me out @beachfrontmuttrescue

My adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
