My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I’m Sophie, a white and brown pit bull who loves car rides and peanut butter. I’m 3.5 years old, female, 50 lbs., spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. I’m house trained, but I don’t like the crate or the leash. I get scared of new things and people, and I need a patient family who will help me overcome my fears.

I’m good with children and other dogs, but I have not been cat tested. I bark at strangers when they come into the yard, but I don’t bite. I just need some time to warm up to them. I’m learning to enjoy sleeping in a bed with people and other dogs. I will even share a dog bed with other dogs for daily naps. I’ve made a lot of progress with my foster mom, who cuddles me and makes me feel safe. She says I’m a sweet and gentle girl who deserves a loving home.

I came from Gaston County Animal Care & Enforcement, where a kind shelter employee took care of me when I was really scared and gave me yummy peanut butter. I’m very grateful for that, but I’m ready to find my forever family. If you think you’re the one for me, please contact my rescue. I can’t wait to meet you and start our new life together.

Located in Clemmons, NC. OSSD dogs can be transported out of state.

More about this rescue

Our Mission

Operation Save A Shelter Dog is a foster based, IRS-recognized 501c(3) rescue whose mission is to work with shelters on the East Coast by saving dogs at high risk of euthanasia or that have little hope of adoption in their current condition. Not only is it our goal to find furever homes for our dogs, but also to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, vaccinating and providing preventative care for their pets.
